We are pleased to present the RPOA-IUU Newsletter for Quarter 3 (July–September 2026), highlighting key regional developments, collaborative initiatives, and progress made by the RPOA-IUU Secretariat, participating countries, and partners in promoting responsible fishing practices and combating Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing.

This edition reflects the continued commitment of RPOA-IUU participating countries and partners to strengthening regional cooperation in addressing the complex and evolving challenges of IUU fishing. Through knowledge sharing, policy dialogue, technical cooperation, and coordinated enforcement efforts, the region continues to advance more effective fisheries governance and the sustainable management of marine resources.

The Q3 2026 newsletter highlights several important developments, including the 1st RPOA-IUU Consultative Meeting 2026 and ongoing discussions on the Joint Ministerial Statement (JMS), efforts to promote decent working conditions in the fisheries sector in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO), and regional initiatives to advance seafood legality and traceability through the SAFET 2026 Conference.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all contributors involved in the preparation of this newsletter, including the RPOA-IUU Secretariat, editorial team, participating countries, advisory bodies, development partners, observers, and experts. Their continued dedication and collaboration play an important role in advancing shared regional priorities and strengthening collective efforts toward responsible and sustainable fisheries management.

As we move forward, RPOA-IUU remains committed to fostering practical cooperation, strengthening institutional coordination, promoting decent working conditions, and embracing innovative approaches to fisheries monitoring and traceability.
