The 13th RPOA-IUU Coordination Committee

The 13th Regional Plan of Action to Promote Responsible Fishing Practices including Combating IUU Fishing in the Region (RPOA-IUU) Coordination Committee Meeting was conducted virtually via Microsoft Team on 15 November 2020. The meeting was attended by 11 (eleven) RPOA-IUU participating countries (namely Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Phillippine, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste, and Vietnam). The meeting was also attended by SEAFDEC and Info Fish as advisory bodies. In additional, NOAA-OLE, IMCS Network, CTI-CFF, ATSEA-2 Project and CSIRO also participated in this meeting as observers.

Several issues such as fisheries management challenges and priorities, the importance of involvement and implementation of international regulation and instruments, adoption of Joint Statement of RPOA IUU participating countries, and endorsement of Resolution on Vessel Without Nationality were discussed in the meeting.
